e-Pak vs. i-Pak
The only difference between e-Pak and i-Pak is a decision on how you want to support the application. In today's world of high speed internet and security concerns, different organizations have varied concerns that need to be addressed. Financial availability and internal resources are always a concern, however on-going costs (both in time and required maintenance) need to be evaluated to make the right decision for each organization. Purchasing a server is one thing, but having the knowledgeable staff and resources to support it while creating a disaster recovery plan are items that need to be addressed. Different haulers have different requirements, it's not only the smaller haulers that choose to go with hosted solutions.
Soft-Pak created the e-Pak product based on the demand by haulers to simplify the process of getting started with such a comprehensive solution. Not just in terms of affordability, but the initial requirement to spec out, configure, order and install an internal server. Choosing to run your business on a hosted solution like e-Pak or e-Pak Lite also takes away the requirement for day to day hardware and database maintenance.
With the growth of the internet and the ability to securely store information and back-up data to off-site locations, companies like Netsuite and SalesForce.com have become standard applications in corporate America. The choice is up to the organization, and many are making the choice for a hosted solution not purely on dollars saved.
Questions that need to be asked to consider what platform is best for your hauling operation.
- Do you currently own an internal server?
- Do you have the resources on staff to administer and service this equipment?
- How reliable is the local high speed internet?
- Is your disaster recover plan established and current?
- How secure is your current network?
- What is your current growth mode?
- Are you acquiring other facilities / sites?
