Before you get started setting up your i-Pak system you might want to make some decisions:
Who will be the System Administrator? This is the person (or people) responsible for the 'mission critical' functions of i-Pak - setting up Users, setting up Master files that will control how your system works, how information should be input to get the output your company needs.
What will be your Data Set Identifier if you are an i-Pak customer? This is a 2 character id that identifies your data in one library. Typically it represents an abbreviation of your company/corporation name.
How many Companies do you have and how should they be separated? Should they be separated?
What type of Billing Processes do you want? Invoices, Statements, both?
Are there any tax issues in your environment?
Will you be using productivity?
The answers to some of these questions will determine how you set up your files and your system. Your needs might be very simple and straight forward, or they might be somewhat complicated, or a mixture of the two. The set up of your company and its codes is best discussed with a Soft-Pak representative. Typically for i-Pak customers, this is done during a pre-implementation visit. For e-Pak customers this discussion can be via a phone session or on site visit.
Note about Master Files
Many customers choose to set up their Master Files from 'scratch'; however we have 'canned' files available as well. These are files that have been set up by our expert training staff based on the 'typical' needs of customers in the field. Please discuss this option with a Soft-Pak representative as it may save you time in Getting Started with i-Pak.
